Classic 1990s Namco Baseball
Great Sluggers – Featuring 1994 Team Rosters is a classic baseball arcade game released by Namco in 1994. The game followed the original Japanese Great Sluggers from 1993 and brought the series to the U.S. with teams based on the American and National Leagues. Strategy Wiki
The U.S. release featured 28 teams representing the two major leagues of American professional baseball and carried an official MLBPA license. Strategy Wiki
Two-Player Competitive Baseball
Great Sluggers supports two-player competitive gameplay, making it ideal for head-to-head games in a home arcade or classic game room. Each player uses an 8-way joystick and three action buttons to control batting, pitching and fielding. Arcade History
The controls are straightforward enough for casual players while still allowing timing and positioning to matter during both offense and defense.
Bat, Pitch and Field
Players control their team throughout the game, using the joystick and three-button layout for the different actions required during batting and fielding.
When pitching, players can adjust the ball’s direction before release, while batting requires careful positioning and timing at the plate. The simple arcade control system keeps the action moving faster than a full baseball simulation. Museum of the Game
Featuring 1994 Team Rosters
The American version was specifically marketed as Great Sluggers – Featuring 1994 Team Rosters.
Rather than using the Japanese professional baseball teams found in the original game, this edition features teams based on the American League and National League, giving U.S. players a much more familiar baseball experience. Strategy Wiki
